Felix seems to think he’s out of time for guns or swords.

This page is late going up because I fell asleep at my desk last night while typing the news post…

Good guys often tend to follow “don’t use force/kill unless you have to” and hope till last moment that it won’t come to this. It often changes with age and cynicism, though ;P

I must be cynical, then. Giving the villain one warning is one thing. But giving him multiple warnings seems dangerous to me.

Or at the very least seems highly inefficient.

Kaden may be holding a gun, and knows how to do some awesome poses with it; but that doesn’t mean he’s shot at a person before- or has ever been in this type of situation. shooting a monster is one thing, shooting someone you know is another. After this incident, I’m sure Kaden will learn to defend his ground a bit better.

For Lenna; Felix is her friend and team-mate, where Faye and Kaden are still newly met strangers. She wants to know what’s going on before she lets go of that string. She doesn’t know what passed between Faye and Felix, though we do. At this point, she has no way of knowing how much of the villain he is.

Maybe to help the narrative show that hesitation in the print version, I could edit Kaden’s expressions in this scene to be less super-cool-confident?

So, does Kaden’s pistol carry multiple charges then? Maybe that’s the element I’m missing. His gun, at least to me, looks like a fairly standard late 18th c. sidearm, which–while elegant–had a dangerously slow reload time. Warning shots were worse than useless unless the shooter had another firearm ready.

From my reading it looked like he was wasting his shot and leaving himself and Faye basically unprotected. But maybe that’s not the case then?

Kaden’s gun is enchanted – though it hasn’t been discussed among the characters yet. It is something that will arise rather early in the coming chapter. In the previous chapter, Kaden was able to get two shots off before needing to reload.

So it’s still a waste; but doesn’t leave him completely defenceless.

It was probably a GOOD idea for Lenna to jump to the ground. If Felix decided to “force throw” her, she’d have much less distance to fall.

You know, I have long theorized about the creation of a character with Wind based magic powers that can Stop the flow of air in a target’s throat to kill through asphyxiation, and rapidly alter the air pressure inside a human body causing them to explode like a balloon, or at least like a severe case of the bends.

And now it seems I am finally seeing a Wind Master who bloody knows how to exploit a loophole. Someone who knows the proper way to kill with air.
